CALL FOR PRESENTERS

 The International Mountain Medicine Symposium invites clinicians, rescuers, researchers, and outdoor professionals to submit presentation proposals for our upcoming Symposium this Fall. This unique gathering brings together leaders in wilderness medicine, alpine rescue, and prehospital care to share knowledge and advance the practice of medicine in remote and high-risk environments. Hosted by Silverton Medical Rescue, the symposium focuses on improving patient care, operational coordination, and rescue techniques in mountainous and austere settings. 

Suggested Topics

Submissions may include (but are not limited to):

  • Mountain and wilderness medicine

  • Prehospital and austere critical care

  • Alpine and technical rescue medicine

  • Avalanche medicine and winter rescue

  • High-altitude physiology and illness

  • Search and rescue operations and case reviews

  • Remote ultrasound and field diagnostics

  • Patient care in austere environments

  • Incident command and rescue coordination

  • Backcountry risk management and prevention

  • Innovations in rescue technology or patient packaging/transport

Presentation Formats

We encourage a variety of formats including:

  • Educational lectures

  • Case presentations

  • Research summaries

  • Skills demonstrations

  • Hands-on workshops or field-based sessions

Join us in the San Juan Mountains to share your expertise, learn from peers, and help improve care in some of the world’s most challenging environments. All presenters must be registered for the conference.

The deadline for proposals is May 31, 2026, at midnight (MDT). Decisions on acceptance will be made by June 30, 2026.
